New details found in the Rockstar Games API suggest that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) may soon reveal new images. Rockstar initially unveiled the game with a trailer in December 2023, which quickly became one of the most viewed videos on YouTube. Now, five months later, fans are eager for more information, and it seems their wait might be coming to an end.

Fans are eagerly awaiting GTA 6, making it one of the most anticipated games in recent memory. The next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series comes 12 years after the release of GTA 5 in 2013. The game’s setting is the vibrant streets of Vice City, a fictional city inspired by Miami, within the state of Leonida. The trailer, which has amassed over 189 million views, showcased stunningly realistic graphics, and a vast open-world environment, and introduced the game’s two protagonists, Lucia and Jason. Although rumours have circulated about the actors portraying these characters, Rockstar has remained tight-lipped on the matter. A fan-created Twitter bot called “when_vi,” which monitors Rockstar Games’ API for mentions of GTA 6, recently uncovered four new URLs related to the game. These URLs suggest the existence of new screenshots and potential cover art for GTA 6. While attempting to access these links currently results in a 404 error, indicating that Rockstar has not yet uploaded any content to them, the discovery has fueled speculation about an upcoming trailer release.

Further supporting the idea of an imminent GTA 6 announcement, Rockstar recently cleared its Instagram page of all content except posts related to GTA 6 and the latest GTA Online DLCs, along with some minor posts about GTA+ and music labels. This social media reset mirrors a similar move made by Rockstar before the release of the first GTA 6 trailer. Combined with the discovery of the new URLs and the upcoming earnings call for parent company Take-Two on May 16, it appears increasingly likely that fans will receive more information about GTA 6 soon.

If the leaked information is accurate, fans can expect new screenshots and possibly cover art for GTA 6 to release in approximately a week. It is worth noting that the first GTA 6 trailer was announced just before Take-Two’s Q2 2024 earnings call in November 2023, suggesting a pattern in Rockstar’s news release strategy. GTA 6 is officially going to release in 2025.
