Instagram is planning to hide the like count on photos, so people won’t be able to see how many people have liked the post. Code hunter Jane Wong is the first one who has spotted this unreleased feature that it would publicly hide like counts. He has mentioned that Instagram wants your followers to focus on what you have shared, not how many likes you got on your posts get. So soon you will be able to hide on like count on Instagram photos.
Soon You Will Get an Option to Hide the Like Count on Your Instagram Photos
Only that person will be able to see the number of likes, who has posted a photo. An Instagram spokesperson said:
“We’re not testing this at the moment, but exploring ways to reduce pressure on Instagram is something we’re always thinking about.”
An Instagram confirmed that this design is an internal prototype and it is not visible to the public yet. However, it is to be expected that the change will bring a positive effect on users, especially on those who are struggling with mental health problems exacerbated by social media. Most people over social media are struggling to get a certain number of likes in order to get popularity.
According to 2017 UK study, that out of five major social networks, Instagram was the most harmful to young people’s mental health. However, there’s no plan to hide follower counts on user profiles, which are the true measure of popularity.
