Dr. Umar Saif has already represented Pakistan on different global platforms. He was also invited by University of Washington (Seattle) to deliver a speech back in October.

Umar Saif is a Pakistani computer scientist and entrepreneur, who is famous for his work on using ICT solutions for emerging-world obstacles. He is also the patron of Plan9, Pakistan’s leading startup incubator. And is often believed as one of the major forces behind the IT ecosystem in Pakistan.

In Nov 2011, Dr. Umar Saif was selected as the Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Secretary IT of the Government of Punjab. Saif’s work on indispensable technologies received the MIT Technovator Award in 2008. He was also named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010. Saif is also the Editor-in-Chief MIT Technology Review Pakistan.

In recognition to his relevance to the country the Government of Pakistan awarded Umar Saif Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence), one of the top civilian Awards in Pakistan, in 2011.
