World’s Biggest Celebrities have Lost Millions of Twitter Followers

After the Twitter’s cracked down on “locked” accounts, some of the world’s biggest celebrities have lost millions of Twitter followers.

Katy Perry, a US singer had the most-followed user on Twitter, while Lady Gaga lost about 2.5 million followers.

More interestingly, Barack Obama went down 2.1 million. These world’s biggest celebrities have lost millions of Twitter followers.

According to the Twitter that company had taken the decision due to its “ongoing and global effort to build trust”.

This new action was taken just because that if there is any user whose account is locked for unusual activity, such as being blocked or sending unusual volumes of Tweets and who did not respond to a prompt to verify their identity would be automatically excluded from Twitter follower counts.

The head of the company’s legal team, Vijaya Gadde, said that:

“Most accounts would only lose around four followers as a result of the new measures”

She further warned:

That more popular accounts would “experience a more significant drop”.

There is no doubt that no one has this been more true than Twitter, as it has cracked down it’s own account on the platform, which lost 7.7 million followers.

The company said that the aim of  recent move was to build confidence of users and reflected the fact that follower counts are “a visible feature” on the platform. This is the reason thta the company took this step and the world’s biggest celebrities have lost millions of Twitter followers.

No doubt, this new step taken by company is appreciable and it will encourage more users to use the Twitter without any security issue.
