HMD Global at the Snapdragon Tech Summit announced that Nokia is all set to launch a 5G phone that will employ the new Snapdragon 765 SoC with an integrated Snapdragon X52 5G modem. The mobile manufacturer also shared a teaser, in which image of its upcoming phone shows a side-mounted fingerprint. The phone will have a curved rear panel with a glossy finish, and at the back of the phone there is a circular camera module.
The Finnish company’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas made this announcement on the stage and shared the teaser. Image in the teaser shows a copper colored frame and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor below the volume rocker.
Nokia-Branded 5G Phone is Set to Launch Next Year
He further revealed that the phone will have the in-house Zeiss camera technology that we have already experienced on a wide range of premium Nokia-branded phones.
In addition, this upcoming phone will bring the PureDisplay technology for its customers that offers HDR10 video playback support along with upscales SDR content to HDR by taking advantage of a 16-bit engine in real-time. It is to be expected that the upcoming Nokia phone might also offer 4K HDR video recording support.
Sarvikas said in the official Qualcomm press release:
“Our highest priority for 2020 is making 5G more accessible – bringing an affordable yet premium grade, future proof 5G experience for the best possible performance in NSA and SA networks with the Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform”
His statement indicates that the upcoming Nokia phone, that is powered by Snapdragon 765 SoC, will offer dual-mode 5G (SA+NSA support).
However, at the summit, HMD didn’t reveal the name of this upcoming smartphone. It also didn’t say anything about the internal hardware of the phone.
