Qualcomm and Datang to Develop Low-Cost Chips of $10 for Entry Level Smartphones. Keeping in view the rising percentage of smartphone penetration across the world, finally the leading chip-set manufacturer, Qualcomm has partnered with Datang Telecom Group and a Chinese investment company “Jianguang Asset Management (JAC)” to work on this mission and launch its low-cost chipset. This has been reported by Digitimes reported.

In this project, Qualcomm will be the technology leader and will develop smartphone chipset under $10; which is too cheap. Hence, now low-cost smartphones will also be able to best quality and fastest chipsets of Qualcomm.

Whereas, the Semiconductor company “Datang” and JAC will together hold a share of 50% in this new venture.

Qualcomm has planned to operate from China for this project. Further these low-cost chips will not be in competition with Qualcomm’s existing portfolio of high-end chipsets.
