Snapchat is testing a new big feature that will use your selfies to replace the people’s faces in videos you can then share. With this new feature, you can superimpose a face over another face in your Snaps. It is a simplified way to Deepfake you into GIF. We can say that Snapchat Cameos will create a low-rent deepfake GIF or video clip for you.
It will be a good substitute of Bitmoji for quickly conveying an emotion, reaction, or silly situation in the messages of Snapchat. As we all know that GIFs are great way to convey your reactions, but they are not very personal. Snapchat is now allowing you to record yourself and that will be exciting.
SnapChat’s Cameo to Edit Your Face into GIFs
The company has confirmed that soon it will release the feature and that will be available publicly across the globe. According to Snapchat, a Cameo feature will insert your face into a selection of (currently pre-made) GIFs. You only have to capture a selfie, choose a generic body type and it will animate your face, including the movements of your mouth.
Well it is a friendly deepfake instead of creepy. The company has rolled out the feature in some international markets but that was just for testing purpose. Some users have also shared that on social media platforms.
Here’s some images from the new Snapchat Cameo feature.
Looks like it’s only available in France right now but it’s takes an AR version of your face and lets you apply it to a bunch of different activities.
Sort of a loose deep fake for Snap. Kind of. pic.twitter.com/LDReLqGCRV
