If I say that it is time to leave earth, I won’t be wrong. Yes, we are not safe anywhere. Each and every time I use social media apps, I am quite terrified that it might be using my data for the malicious activities-thanks to WhatsApp bug that we keep on witnessing every day. Now we have come across another malicious activity on the app that even allows a hacker to access our Whatsapp messages.
Kick WhatsApp Bug Out by Updating to the latest version of WhatsApp
WhatsApp has even acknowledged this flaw and posted a security advisory about this bug named as CVE-2019-11931. This app only affects the earlier versions of the app on both Android and iOS devices. In the advisory, the issue is described as “stack-based buffer overflow” that is competent enough to trigger unsafe code by forwarding a particularly crafted MP4 file to WhatsApp users.
The company has not revealed how the video will look like so that we might not open it and it has also not revealed that whether the person needs to open the MP4 file to get hacked or the overall process is automatically executed.
Well, WhatsApp has rolled out the latest fix for the affectees however users who have not updated the app can be attacked by hacker still.
Though everything will be fine now the question still remains there. Are we really not safe when we are using these platforms? What measures should we take in order to be at the most secure level? Kindly let us know in the comments section below.
