The WhatsApp chat app includes code that hints at improved video playback functionality. The hidden code hints at the ability to play YouTube videos within WhatsApp itself. Users will be able to continue watching the  video clip while using the messenger.

It seems that WhatsApp is going to use the picture-in-picture functionality which was first introduced by Apple in iOS 9. Users will be able to pinch on the video to expand it within a chat window, or open the YouTube video full screen. The picture-in-picture can also be moved around the app in order to avoid it blocking the text beneath. In iOS 10, Apple has introduced the ability to play YouTube videos inside their thumbnail previews.

Still it is not clear that when WhatsApp will bring its own version of the functionality to the chat app.

WABetaInfo said that:

“This is not a feature that will be remotely enabled” and that instead “it will be enabled with a new WhatsApp update on the AppStore when the feature will be ready”

This Facebook-owned chat app is continuously introducing amazing features, which makes it’s users stick around and making it impossible for them to switch from WhatsApp chat app. In recent past, WhatsApp rolled-out the ability to delete sent messages.
