KPK Minister for Information Technology, Shahram Tarakai has ordered the IT departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa universities to provide round the clock free wi-fi facility to the students as soon as possible. This initiative has been named as the “KP Open WiFi”. This announcement was made in a meeting that was held on Tuesday organized to shed light on the projects of Information Technology Department and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB).

The Minister also directed the KPITB officials to come up with a feasible and effective plan for this project so that the students can be facilitated as soon as possible.
During the meeting, Mr. Shahram said that:
“Meaningful use of ICT was the most effective way to create maximum employment opportunities for the youth and as such the present provincial government was spending huge amount on the promotion of ICT in the province with the aim to empower the young lot.”
He also added that:
“Empowerment of youth is on the top of the priority list of the PTI-led provincial government as they are the future of our nation and as such the provincial government is investing more and more on their empowerment.”
Shahram Khan also advised the management of KPITB to design some youth-oriented projects as part of the upcoming developmental programs.
