LG Rollable TV to Launch in 2019

The LG rollable TV prototype is all set to go on sale and will be available for the consumers as a product next year. This upcoming TV will have 65-inch OLED panels. The OLED panels will retract into a base if not in use. These big screens will be rolled up.

These OLED screens will give you crisper images. They will fold more easily than traditional LCD or liquid-crystal display panels. LG showcased the rollable screen technology earlier this year but the commercial release of the TV will in 2019.

According to Bloomberg, LG is also planning to launch its first 5G phone at Mobile World Congress in February, However, Sprint and LG have already disclosed their plans to announce a 5G device in the first half of 2019.

According to data tracker Statista:

OLED TVs are estimated to account for just 1.1 percent of the market this year, while LCDs claim almost 98 percent. But unit shipments of OLED TVs are projected to grow 70 percent next year to 4 million from an estimated 2.35 million this year.

Engadget also reported last year that it had seen LG’s internal documents which suggested that the company will display full-on rollable TVs at CES 2019.  Engadget and Evan “Evleaks” Blass also reported that they are expecting to see an LG foldable phone at the show. However, some reliable sources believe that LG is not going to launch the foldable phone at CES 2019.
