I am based in the UK and was wondering to bring 2 phones for family. I will register them on my passport. Can you clarify the following –
1) You mention customs. Is that the same as IMEI registration to use local sims or have I got to pay both customs and IMEI registration costs.
2) Are these charges paid at the airport on arrival or you can pay it at your pace at customs office?
3) I see that the fees are similar for all iPhones X,11,12 etc. but in your comments you have specific rates. Is there a way to get specific rates? Also would I need a receipt at hand or they just base it on the model?

1. Yes, it is the same.
2. No, You’ll have 30 days to register it on your passport after arrival and a total of 60 days to register your phone via ID Card before PTA blocks it.
3. We have updated the number with the latest FBR Tax rates (after increase), all taxes on iPhones are mentioned in our calculator (https://www.phoneworld.com.pk/mobile-phones-taxes-in-pakistan/), you’ll get specific rates there. Also, no receipt is needed.

Yes, that’s true. But we do not know what the FBR has as a standard to calculate the value of depreciated phones. As with iPhones, they are charging extremely high Taxes.

You can buy an iPhone 11 for 400 there in the US, but, you’d still have to pay the tax mentioned above as FBR has a mysterious value calculation technique that no one knows or understands that determines the tax of the phone.
If iPhone registered on usa passport and that person travel back after gifted to family member, will that phone can be used legally there after in Pakistan

Very true and we agree with you. Tax should only be payed for the phones that are imported for commercial use. There has to be a system.
